Information about Grouper Breeding Method
and Technique
To do the grouper breeding, then first
thing that need to be done is to start from the fish when they are still in the
fingerling form. This is important as the fingerling is easier to customize with
the breeding situation which usually takes placed on net cage or even a pond. The
smallest fingerling will be stock into small size pond which will be use as the
nursery place or the net cage which will floats. The pond itself can be created
in 100 m by 100 m on the size then 1 m to the 1.5 m on the deep for the nursery
place. Afterwards immediately put inside the small fingerling for nursery
purpose.
The small fingerling used in this grouper
breeding technique is usually on 5 centimeters to 7 centimeters for the length.
That is why; you can put inside around 100 of them if the nursery pond is
around 1 square meter in size. At this time, the food provided for them to eat
is frozen fish. After fourteen days to twenty eight days time, then they will
get bigger into 10 centimeters to 12 centimeters for the length. At this time,
then the trash fish will be provided for them to eat which will boost their
growth. Again it will also be change into fish meals, some vitamins as well as
minerals for the food. This will be done until they reach 15 centimeters to 20
centimeters in length. This length means that the fry fish is already ready and
need to move to larger growing place. Usually there are two types of growing

cage grouper breeding, it will be used in place where there are natural
resources of brackish water. This place should not have any predators that
naturally prey on the grouper. The wind as well as the wave should also be
strong enough. It is also important that the place can give enough water to
exchange. Then lastly the place should also have great water quality which needed
by the fry fish that you put inside this place.
The place itself is constructed using
bamboo for the pole part then the polyethylene for the net part. The net is the
one that will be used to create the cage which needs 2 of the panels to form. The
first panel is constructed with four sides for the cage part then the second of
the panel is constructed for the bottom of the cage part. Afterwards this cage
construction will be secure to the pole part using rope which will tie the
whole construction. There is also some buoyancy which created using the plastic
gallons which will also be secure to the pole part.
For the net cage grouper
breeding farming method, it will be
done in place where the water temperature is on 27 degree for the Celsius to 30
degree for the Celsius. Then the water oxygen content is on mg/liter then the
salinity content is on 26 percentages until 30 percentages in ph content on 7.8
points to 8.3 points. To ensure all of this parameters are provided by the
water in optimal condition, then the water should be check thoroughly before
usage.
The result of the breeding using the net
cage is also dependent to location where the net cage is placed and of courses
other parameters for example the water as well as feed quality. Under normal
circumstances, the result of the breeding will be at 600 kg if the net cage
used in this breeding method has around 5 m x 5 m x 3 m. this will take around
28 weeks for the grouper fish to grow until they have 600 gram in weight from
their small fish measurement.
For the pond grouper
breeding, the place will be different even though it is still done in
outdoor area. But if this is the breeding method that is used, then the density
inside pond is the one that plays huge role. This is why; the pond will usually
create at around 2 m for the depth. Then the bottom part on the pond area will
also be level which will be used on the harvesting method later so it will get
easier. for the pond sizing itself can be created in various measurement
usually around 0.2 on ha toward 0.3 on ha in size with around 1.5 m in height. The
pond should also get water flows continuously which should also have correct
parameters. But the parameters used in this pond breeding method will be
different from those used in the net cage breeding method. On this pond
breeding method, the salinity level would be at 330 mg/liter then the
temperature would be at 16 Celsius degree to 32 Celsius degree.
Another thing that is different is that in
this pond breeding method, the algae can also grow in the bottom part on the
pond used to breed the grouper. Thus to ensure, that the grouper breeding
result is not affected then the algae will net to be cleaned frequently. Afterwards
you can be sure to get the most optimum result using this breeding method.
Especially since this breeding method can yield tons of frozen grouper fish in the end
which will be valued high.
